Evening Guys,

A thought for you, more than anything.

I do not know how others do this but we will often revise a product and this will lead to a change of spec. It might have a slightly different pH or be a different colour (whatever, really). One of my difficulties with processforce is that this scenaro isn't covered. The item specs are tied to the item master, not the revision. This means we either have to create a new item, each time a revision leads to a spec change or we need to change the underlying spec. The latter would be fine but we then lose the previous revision spec. If we ever want to revert to it (as can happen, as supply chains change one way and then come back again...!), we then have to go through a process and hope that someone has the original spec saved or have to recreate it.

This applies to multiple elements on the item details. Classifications and hazards can change between revisions. As can item texts.

I would be interested to know if Computec have considered this scenario and how they best suggest a company deal with it, assuming that I have not misunderstood the functionality.

All the best

Adam

Hi Adam,

Thank you very much for posting. You are correct that the functionality you mentioned does not currently exist in CompuTec ProcessForce but this is something that is really very interesting for us, so we would like to thank you for bringing this need to our attention. As a result of your very valid comments, we have added this requirement to our queue of potential functionalities for review with a view to considering adding this to a future version of ProcessForce. If you quote the reference number PFDEV-5928 to your consultant at Signum Solutions, they'll be able to provide you with any updates upon request.

Best Wishes,

Clair Hendry-Koszela
