Hi Clair,
We will be implementing WMS as soon as Signum get some space in the schedule and I'm aware that one of the recurring questions is the time scale for compatability with Android handheld and scanning devices. I know that support is coming but it remains that only legacy windows devices are covered. Do you have an idea when this might be coming?
It might be interesting to know of you can share whether there are any other interesting functionalities to be expected when this new device support is added?
Thanks!
Adam
Hi Adam!
Great to see your post! I've been on annual leave and I have only just seen it so apologies for the slow response!
We actually have Trello board with our development roadmap on it. This covers all our solutions so you can see what's coming soon to ProcessForce and the others as well. CompuTec Roadmap
Support for Android is planned for Q1 2021. It is listed on the Trello board for the first half of 2021 but, provided that we don't experience too many external disruptions, it should be ready in the earlier part of the year.
There aren't any new features specifically planned to coincide with the release of the android version. After Android, the next major project will be support for iOS.
Not exactly "what's coming" because it is actually ready, we have just released a new version of WMS that supports catch weight management. This will be released in three phases and this is just phase one but as of this version you can record units and weight separately. I think this is a feature mainly for the food industry but I understand that it is also of interest to some chemicals and pharma businesses. I'm afraid I'm not sure if it is something that may be useful to PIP Chemicals specifically. I am currently working on a demo video of that feature which I'll link to on this thread when it is published.
Since I am here anyway, I will mention that there will be a new version of ProcessForce next week which will have some nice new features in it; support for ISO 2859 compliance and the ability to assign substitutes to co-products and scrap.
We'll also be releasing a beta version of a new plugin, BulkChange, to our partners for testing purposes in the coming days which will then be made available to customers in due course. This is a plugin to update large (or small!) numbers of Bills of Materials simultaneously. If you'd like a sneak peek, there is a short demo on our YouTube channel already. BulkChange plugin demo
Thanks Clair,
Your video was great. I can't speak for others but love this sort of thing. Boyum are superstars with it and seeing things in action means we can keep up to date with what is possible rather than having to rely on Signum identifying some newer features might help.
Thanks for the pointer at the Trello - this gives me some interesting info. I know I have been looking forward to the new MRP features, especially the linking back to sales orders and similar.
Great news as well on the Android devices. Given the timing, it makes no sense to start on legacy devices. Perhaps there might be some scope for Signum to get some early access and even help with beta testing, once we would get a bit further down the process.
Thanks again
Adam
@adam-pip Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback! Duly noted that you are interested in the new MRP features! I'll be doing those kind of videos for most major upcoming features and I'll post them on the forum as and when.
Regarding early access to Android support for Signum, it's something quite far outside of my scope of involvement so I wouldn't like to comment either way! I'll certainly mention it to the right people though and see if that is something we can explore.
Hello again! The video about Catch Weight Management in CompuTec WMS is now on YouTube here.
Thanks Clair. I've been looking at the videos - we will get the basics done first before I start coming up with clever uses of the more novel features!
