Signum Solutions Achieves A Double Nomination!

Signum is proud to announce that we are one of four finalists in two categories at the inaugural Halton Chamber of Commerce Awards!

The awards aim to celebrate businesses in the Halton region, and we are over the moon to be finalists for ‘Customer Commitment’ and ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards.

Category award winners are also automatically put forward for the Halton ‘Business of the Year’ award.

The Halton ‘Business of the Year’ award is given to dynamic and financial robust organisations that can demonstrate a successful strategy, strong values combined with real ambition and vision.

Signum Solutions was founded on the principle that our customers should be at the heart of everything we do, and this has remained our focus throughout the past year, when we responded to COVID.

Our clients are always number one, and we work hard every day to ensure that their needs are met. Whether it’s a simple change to their system or providing help with a technical issue, our goal is always to solve problems quickly and effectively so that our clients can keep doing what they do best—providing excellent service and products to their customers.

We have always been committed to excellent customer service. From the day we opened our doors, we have made it a point to put our customers first.

We believe that when you treat your clients well, they will be loyal to you and that is what has happened for Signum.

We encourage our staff to take an active interest in our clients by understanding their unique needs and providing them with the best services possible for their situation.

We don’t believe in losing customers because of silly mistakes, so we make sure everyone at Signum is well-informed and supported so they can provide excellent service to our clientele without fail.

This is why we are so honoured to be recognized for the Customer Commitment award because they demonstrate how well our team works together and how much they care about doing their jobs right!

We are also delighted that our digital marketing apprentice, Matthew Healey, has been nominated as Apprentice of the Year.

Apprenticeships are a great way to get hands-on experience with a company without having to worry about the finances that come along with full-time education. They are a great opportunity for young people who want to learn new skills and prepare themselves for an entry-level job in their chosen field.

It’s no surprise, then, that Matthew Healey was nominated as Apprentice of the Year! Matthew joined Signum in September 2019 and has already made a huge contribution to the company’s growth.

Matthew balances his apprenticeship with a full-time position at Signum and being a dedicated dad to his little boy, and we’re so impressed by his hard work and dedication to learning all the skills he will need for a successful career in digital marketing.

We love that he has such a focused attitude toward his apprenticeship and puts everything into what he does.

Since joining us, Matthew has learned an enormous amount and has already made a real difference to Signum. We are proud that he is now emerging as an important member of our team and a great ambassador for our business.

The fact that he was nominated and selected as one of the finalists for Apprentice of the Year makes us extra proud of his achievements!

We can’t wait to see what possibilities await him in 2022—and beyond!

The ceremony will be held on 10th June at the DCBL Stadium in Widnes, where we will find out if Signum is a winner! We’ll have our fingers crossed, but no matter what happens, we’re thrilled to be finalists in these prestigious categories.

We hope you will join us in congratulating all finalists and winners as they celebrate their achievements which truly deserve recognition during these challenging times and we want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the past year!

Supply Chain Management: Building the Future with ERP

The digitization of supply chain management is inevitable, with more and more manufacturers and distributors looking to take advantage of the revolutionary advantages ERP systems offer.

Supply chain management is the process of overseeing the flow of goods from raw materials to finished products. It’s an incredibly complex system that includes all of the steps it takes to get a product from the factory floor to the customer’s doorstep.

Today’s supply chain managers are tasked with optimizing every step in this process while maintaining high levels of quality control, which can be challenging when there are so many variables involved.

The supply chain is traditionally managed by a variety of software tools and spreadsheets, which requires manual data entry, often with some degree of human error and lots of room for improvement. With the right ERP system, you can streamline your entire supply chain and gain efficiencies along the way.

Modern ERP systems are more integrated, more flexible and better able to communicate with other systems. As a result, they can handle complex supply chain management issues, from forecasting and demand planning to safety stock optimization.

ERP systems are also being used to manage procurement and inventory. They can establish new business rules around when orders are placed, using sophisticated algorithms and predictive analytics to determine the most efficient way to maintain inventory levels.

The supply chain is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle when you’re considering your business strategy. If you can’t deliver on time or make your customers wait, you’ll lose their trust and potentially their business as well.

A modern ERP system will give you the data-driven tools to stay ahead of your competition. Here’s how:

An ERP system can help you predict demand and optimize production

An ERP system is a valuable tool for predicting demand, optimizing production, and reducing inventory costs across the board. Modern machine learning algorithms let you forecast demand, automate material planning and replenishment, and set up optimized cost-based production plans with real-time data that’s synchronized across all systems within your company.

When you have a handle on what’s happening with your inventory, it becomes easier to predict demand and plan for future orders.

Increased productivity with cloud based sap business one

An ERP system can significantly improve efficiency and inventory management

If your inventory isn’t organized, every step in the process becomes more difficult and time-consuming — not just for employees, but for your customers as well. The longer they have to wait, the less likely they are to stick around!

When everything is in one system, it’s easier for everyone involved in the process to manage inventory, manage logistics, plan production schedules, and track orders and payments. This real-time visibility helps prevent bottlenecks that slow down operations or lead to underperformance from any part of the company.

An ERP system streamlines your business processes by consolidating data from multiple departments into a single platform that saves time and minimizes human error.

You can also use an ERP system to manage inventory levels in real time, minimizing labour costs while maintaining an accurate view of your inventory levels at any given time across multiple locations or warehouses.

A modern ERP system can streamline your regulatory compliance process

Regulatory compliance is a major concern for most companies. And it should be. One misstep can lead to enormous fines and even cause your company to lose its license to trade.

The typical supply chain management process is complicated, involving a number of companies, each with their own set of rules and regulations. Adding to that complication, the regulatory landscape is changing constantly, often with little warning.

To add to this complexity and challenge, achieving compliance is critically important — it could be the difference between being able to ship products and losing thousands of pounds in potential revenue.

A modern ERP system can streamline your regulatory compliance process. As rules and regulations change, you need an ERP system that can adapt quickly, ensuring that your business remains compliant at all times. This is one area where a traditional ERP system falls short — it lacks the flexibility needed in a constantly changing regulatory environment.

Supply Chain Management with ERP

A modern ERP system offers Just In Time processes, inventory management, and tracking technology.

In supply chain management, better information leads directly to better decisions.

Just-in-Time (JIT) processes, built into a modern ERP system, allow you to monitor inventory levels on an ongoing basis, giving you data that helps determine when you need to reorder materials so they arrive when you need them — not too early or too late — which improves efficiency and minimizes waste.

With JIT processes in place, you are also less likely to run out of supplies because these processes keep your inventory at optimal levels at all times.

ERP and Intelligent Enterprise

The distribution industry is approaching a major paradigm shift. Many distributors are still using outdated technology, and they’re feeling the pressures of increased competition, tightening margins, and new consumer expectations.

Your customers have come to expect real-time tracking on their packages. They want to know exactly where their order is, at any given time—and they should. But traditional warehouse management systems are not designed for this kind of visibility, making it difficult for you to meet these expectations.

>Upgrading to a modern ERP solution allows you to provide the kind of service your customers demand while driving down costs and increasing efficiency in your business.

The supply chain industry is evolving rapidly. With the rise of ecommerce, factories are under pressure to keep up with increased demand.

To stay competitive, distribution companies need to adopt the latest technology and digitize for the new economy.

A modern ERP system is the only solution that can keep up with this evolution. Today’s leading ERP systems are integrated solutions that combine normal business functions like accounting and inventory management with industry-specific features (like compliance and quality control). These systems enable companies to automate processes, optimize production, and manage everything from anywhere.

With a modern ERP system, supply chain companies of all sizes can take advantage of the latest technology to streamline operations. These systems allow for better collaboration between departments, as well as between companies in a supply chain. Businesses can also take advantage of powerful analytics software that provides insight into every aspect of their operation – from suppliers to customers and beyond.

All of this means increased productivity and better customer service, which translates into higher profits, lower costs, and more satisfied employees.

ERP is no longer just a nice-to-have—it’s a must-have if you want to survive in today’s market.

Why you should be looking at upgrading your ERP system

If you’re still on the fence about upgrading your ERP, consider this: ERP upgrades are necessary to keep pace with the latest ERP products on the market.

Upgrades ensure you have access to all the latest features, functionality and technology from the most innovative vendors in the industry.

It’s obvious that running your business or organization on an outdated ERP system is not the best option, but it’s also not uncommon. We’ve seen many organizations operating with outdated technology and we understand that it can feel overwhelming to consider upgrading.

As a business owner, you’ve made significant investments to ensure your organization has the systems it needs to run efficiently and effectively. However, with the fast pace of technology change, without proper maintenance that investment can become obsolete quickly. As this happens, you will see a decline in productivity, efficiency and possibly even sales.

Unfortunately, too many businesses stick with an old ERP system simply because they don’t know what else to do. They’re afraid of the time and money it will take to implement a new ERP system, or they just don’t have the expertise to manage an upgrade.

If your current ERP or CRM software is more than 3 years old and/or hasn’t been upgraded in that time frame, now is the time to look at upgrading your software. Here are some reasons why.

Why upgrade your ERP system?

Upgrading your ERP is a great way to improve your business processes and efficiency. Rather than having to reinvent the wheel each time you face a new challenge, you can leverage your existing data assets with an upgraded application that can help you work faster and smarter.

When you upgrade from an outdated system, you can: Save hours each week by eliminating unnecessary manual data entry. Increase your computer and smartphone productivity. Eliminate errors and make more accurate financial decisions. Improve quality control and boost the efficiency of your business processes. Keep you on track for regulatory compliance, meet your goals and stay competitive in today’s global economy.

What are the benefits of upgrading your ERP system?

The 5 biggest benefits of upgrading your ERP system can save you time, keep you from making costly mistakes, protect your business and business reputation, enhance the quality of your data and most importantly, increase your profitability.

1. You’ll save time

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with an outdated ERP system. You may think you’re saving time by not learning a new system, but continually working with an old ERP system ends up costing you in the long run. Upgrading to a modern ERP system allows you to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time on growing your business.

erp saves you time

2. You’ll avoid costly mistakes

When you upgrade your ERP system, you’ll be able to take advantage of built-in features that are designed to prevent mistakes, such as duplicate entry errors and incorrect calculations. These are easy to miss when you’re using an old ERP system. By avoiding costly mistakes made by not upgrading your ERP system, you avoid penalties such as fines and lost revenue due to fraudulent activity or errors in your customer data.

eliminates costly mistakes with ERP

3. You’ll protect your business and business reputation

Upgrading your ERP system is one of the best ways to protect your business from cyberattacks because it will include the latest security and encryption capabilities. An updated ERP system can also help prevent data loss through bugs or glitches in the software, which will protect both your reputation and your bottom line. Upgrading to a modern ERP system offers greater security for your company’s most valuable assets—customers and employees. In addition, it safeguards the integrity of your business’ data which is essential for the ongoing success of your company.

4. You’ll improve the quality of your data

When compared with manual data entry, an upgraded ERP system helps reduce errors by eliminating the possibility of human error. As a result, it facilitates accurate reports that help you make better decisions based on accurate information. The data in your ERP system is only as good as the system itself, so if you’re using an old one, you could be missing out on valuable information that could help you improve efficiency and profitability.

ensure data quality with enterprise resource planning software

5. You’ll become more profitable

When properly implemented, an upgraded ERP system boosts profits because it provides solutions that can be customized to fit your business processes and needs. This can include everything from streamlining inventory management, to reducing the number of errors and mistakes made in order inputting and processing. Not only does this mean there is less waste and higher productivity, but also fewer errors means greater customer satisfaction and retention.

upgrading your business systems makes you more profitable

It’s obvious that running your business or organization on an outdated ERP system is not the best option, but it’s also not uncommon. We’ve seen many organizations operating with outdated technology and we understand that it can feel overwhelming to consider upgrading.

Additional benefits include:

1. Improved customer service – Efficient operations lead to quicker response times for customer inquiries and faster order fulfilment.

2. Competitive advantage– If you aren’t using the latest technologies to run your business, you won’t be able to compete with those who are.

3. New functionality– Upgrading allows you to take advantage of functionality and features that didn’t exist when your current system was released.

4. Improved employee productivity– Inefficient operations waste employee time and lower productivity. With an upgraded system, employees can work more efficiently, resulting in cost savings and greater productivity overall.

ERP software has come quite a long way in the last few decades, and as such, it’s a great option for companies large and small. An upgraded ERP system can help you work faster, smarter, and more efficiently. It’s also important to note that upgrading your ERP is a lot easier to do than it used to be.

In the end, an upgrade is a great deal for almost any business. You shouldn’t think of it as an expense, but rather as an investment. The benefits that you reap from a newer and better system will keep paying off throughout its entire lifecycle, and even after your business has outgrown it.

We live in a world of constant improvement, and to be successful today, you must be ready to roll out new solutions at a moment’s notice. Upgrade your ERP system today to make yourself more efficient tomorrow.

The 5 Biggest Myths About Small Business ERP

Small Business ERP Solutions have been around for years. The demand for them has grown over the past decade, but still many myths surround ERP solutions.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at five common myths regarding ERP solutions for small businesses, and address how these myths can adversely affect your business if not understood correctly.

Myth 1 – Small businesses don’t need ERP

The need for a well-organized structured workflow is a must for small to mid-sized companies. Transactions occurring inside a business often involve different departments and intersect at various points – prompting the need for cross-departmental information sharing. In such cases, an ERP system can help promote growth by maintaining a seamless flow of data across departments.

Myth 2 – ERP is too expensive for small businesses

Every organization is seeking ways to reduce costs. With so much money being invested in new initiatives, it may be difficult to remember the old maxim—you have to spend money to make money. ERP software is an important tactic for reducing costs within your organization without sacrificing your return on investment (ROI).

ERP software has the potential to streamline business processes and thus increase productivity and profitability. The ultimate aim is to help your business grow and flourish, and not only maintain the status quo.

All this is possible without having to invest heavily, as ERP software costs are very reasonable and affordable. It can be implemented as per any business’s financial capacity; no need to wait for ‘Eureka moment’ as such, as long as there is a will, there is a way!

Myth 3 – ERP systems are only for big companies that have very complex processes

Software used by larger companies can be a great choice for small businesses as well. ERP systems were traditionally used only by the largest of firms due to their complexity and size of implementation required. But, as technology has advanced, the landscape has changed significantly. Smaller organizations have been increasingly able to take advantage of customizable ERP solutions that cut costs, reduce paperwork and increase business efficiency.

Myth 4 – A new ERP system will be expensive to implement & maintain

It is a common misconception that implementing an ERP system is too expensive and takes too long. A lot of businesses avoid getting an ERP because of this. But if you don’t understand how you will benefit from an ERP system, you should consider how it can reduce your costs and increase your revenues.

Myth 5 – ERP is too complicated

Complexity is the biggest misconception about business software. Despite what you might think, you don’t necessarily need complicated solutions to run your business.

This is a myth that can hold you back from exploring your options for business software. You probably have experienced the challenges that come from working with multiple software tools, but I’m here to say that it doesn’t have to be that way. With the right system, you could streamline your business processes and increase productivity without breaking the bank. It might even save you money by cutting out extras like higher salary costs, support fees, unnecessary consultants, and more.

The reality is that smaller businesses face the same pressure to work smarter and faster, so they’re looking for simpler, affordable software solutions to help them out. This shift represents a huge opportunity for SME’s looking improve daily life in the workplace—especially when it comes to shrinking time spent on routine tasks.

What are the benefits of cloud ERP?

In recent years, cloud computing has been heralded as the next big thing in technology. With cloud ERP, it’s not only the small and midsize enterprise (SME) that can benefit from on-demand software solutions. Even large companies are jumping on the bandwagon to take advantage of the benefits of cloud ERP.

There are a number of factors that businesses need to consider when creating a strategy for transitioning from legacy ERP systems to next-gen solutions. While the solution’s capabilities and features/modules may be critical, it’s also important to take time to evaluate the deployment option itself.

Cloud ERP is a model of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software deployed as a hosted service over the Internet. This generally includes the use of cloud computing resources and is often delivered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) model.

Cloud ERP is a cloud computing solution for ERP, used or accessed by users through a web browser. It is similar to SaaS ERP, except that SaaS is a subset of cloud ERP.

Cloud ERP can be thought of as a middle ground between on premise software and SaaS ERP.

By itself, the cloud doesn’t solve all of your company’s problems. But cloud ERP can reduce your up-front and ongoing costs and allow you to focus your technology resources on improving your business.

If you’re looking for a way out of outdated or underperforming legacy ERP systems, here are five benefits of cloud ERP for you to consider.

Lower capital requirements to access innovation

With traditional on-premises systems, when you invest in new technology, you pay for it up front. Then, as your company grows and requires more computing power, you often have to pay again to upgrade to more hardware.

The initial cost of cloud technology is lower than on-premise technology. Cloud-based applications can reduce upfront costs for companies that would otherwise have to invest in physical hardware and software.

Built in Disaster Recovery

Nobody wants to think about disasters happening to their businesses. But they can happen, and it’s smart to be prepared.

The latest cloud ERP software enables you to recover your business operations quickly after an interruption if your physical site is destroyed or suffers serious damage. That’s because the entire system operates on multi-geo locations, which means if one data centre goes offline due to an unexpected phenomenon, you’ll still have full access to your ERP system.

Scalability

Scalability is a huge feature of cloud software: it allows you to grow without taking the risk of over-investing at the beginning. A lot of the time, small businesses don’t know what their future holds. They can be constrained by loyalty to an on-premises solution, which locks them into a certain number of users and upgrades that they might not need.

Automatic upgrades

Upgrading your software can be a complicated process. With traditional on-premises systems, you typically need to hire a team of IT professionals to perform the upgrades — a process that can take weeks or months.

With cloud ERP, your software upgrades automatically when new features are added. As a result, you can spend less time managing upgrades and more time growing your business.

 Fewer infrastructure costs (technical requirements)

Another benefit that keeps popping up is the non-reliance on infrastructure. As a cloud ERP solution is a web-based service, you don’t need to worry about installing and maintaining servers or software. You also don’t need to worry about setting up database connections and other technical requirements. That means you can focus more on improving your business performance.

In summary:

There are several benefits of cloud ERP with the primary benefits being scalability and cost.

  • The cloud provides significant savings in hardware, software and other infrastructure compared to on-premise software
  • Additionally, with hosted ERP, an organization can implement the vendor’s entire suite of applications. This minimizes the need to implement and integrate another application at the back end.
  • Cloud-based ERP enables greater collaboration, better communication and faster response times. Organizations can collect data in real time, which allows them to react quickly.
  • Hosted ERP moves the responsibility for maintenance and upgrades to the cloud vendor. This simplifies and streamlines IT operations.
  • With a cloud-based ERP strategy, an organization’s ERP environment has built-in disaster recovery, which means the organization can proceed through regular business operations, even during a disruptive event.

The Difference Between an ERP solution and Accounting Software

It’s often hard to distinguish the difference between an ERP solution and Accounting Software as the roles of ERP systems and accounting software solutions have become increasingly blurred. While traditional standalone accounting solutions handle core accounting tasks such as accounts payable, receivables, transactions entry, and bank reconciliation, they lack the management capacity to track information from the earliest stages of a company’s lifecycle.

Over the last two decades, businesses of all sizes have adopted Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in an effort to gain better control over the financial operations of their companies.

Given the amount of money that businesses invest in these solutions, many ask themselves the fundamental question: “What is the difference between an ERP solution and accounting software?”.

Choosing an ERP solution versus an accounting software is never an easy decision. In the early days of business, you might have been happy using a simple spreadsheet to track your finances and customer data. However, as companies get larger, you need solutions that can assist with efficiency and growth.

Even though both ERP and accounting software are used in the daily operations of a company, both of them differ in many important ways.

ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. It’s an umbrella term that represents an entire system that is used to automate the most vital business processes of your company.

Accounting software, on the other hand, is often referred to as financial management software.

What is Accounting Software?

An accounting software solution is a tool for dealing with financial and cost accounting activities. It can help manage all sorts of administrative issues, from managing inventory to payroll. These functions are owned by and sit within the finance department.

What is an ERP system?

An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system is software designed to deal with financial management, supply chain management, and customer relationship management.  An ERP system contains the full suite of functions needed for a company to operate. These functions tend to be shared across an organization.

Difference Between an ERP solution and Accounting Software

ERP integrates your business processes, while accounting software is meant for maintaining your financial records. The former offers you a better grip on your overall business performance, while the latter lets you get rid of messy spreadsheets. Accounting software has its limitations, where ERP systems boast flexible functionalities that can be modified to suit your business needs.

The main feature that distinguishes ERP software from accounting software is that ERP software is a single, integrated system designed to streamline not only the accounting process but also the management of a business.

Why is ERP better?

So, while accounting software works within the bounds of a company’s financial data, an ERP solution will integrate business operations into a single system. In other words, an ERP solution is capable of integrating external factors such as inventory and warehouse management, customer relationship management, supply chain management, etc., into the financial data that the accounting software provides.

Overall, an ERP system would save you both time and money. You’ll have one source of information that can be retrieved at your fingertips.

If you’re considering investing in ERP software, let’s have a free half hour where we can show you how our SAP Business One ERP software could help your business grow. Book your session here

What is Cloud Based ERP?

What does cloud based ERP mean and why should we consider it as an option for our business. Let’s explore what this is, and how it can benefit companies of all sizes.

ERP software helps companies to keep track of, control and register their entire inventory. This software helps companies to manage sales and purchase records, as well as automating the financial and accounting departments.

The software also integrates all necessary business operations and provides a single source of data and records. These programs help with procurement, production, distribution, and fulfilment. With the cloud ERP program businesses enjoy the benefits of remote access and can share information freely across an organisation.

What is cloud-based ERP?

Cloud ERP is like any on-premises software application that companies buy, with one key difference. A cloud ERP system allows the company to use the software over the internet.

For cloud-based ERP, the provider is responsible for the application, data storage, the underlying operating system, servers, the physical data centre infrastructure and installing security updates and feature upgrades.

Utilising the cloud enables business owners to access the full functionality of enterprise resource planning  software without having to install or upgrade any hardware or hire expensive system administrators.

This means business owners can access the same, or better, features as on-premises systems with less hassle and without incurring most of the high upfront costs of traditional ERP solutions.

Benefits of cloud

Cloud-based ERP can offer plenty of benefits to your business. From integrating your existing systems with the cloud version of the application to the option of on-demand pricing whenever you need it, Cloud ERP is something that can make your life easier.

Quick return on investment

Businesses are always looking for ways to improve their ROI. Therefore, ERP systems are an investment for them. The best part of buying cloud-based software is you can use it when you want to, without the traditional investment in hardware and software.

With the most advanced cloud-based ERP solutions available today, you don’t have to disrupt your business processes at all. They run seamlessly in the background giving you the opportunity to retain full control over your business decisions.

Let’s dive into the 4 key benefits for business growth:

No Hardware Management

Cloud technology allows organizations to focus on what is important rather than investing time, money and resources on creating, maintaining, and upgrading their servers.

Accessibility

Cloud-based ERP allows businesses to access their critical business information from anywhere and from any connected device. This provides each employee with the same up-to-date information, no matter how far they are from headquarters. In turn, employees can make decisions faster and with greater confidence, leading to improved productivity.

Scalability

Cloud-based ERP solutions allow organizations to grow their business in a way that is better suited to the needs of the business. Over the past few years, internet-based solutions have removed many of the burdens and challenges associated with traditional ERP — namely — the need and/or the technical ability to scale and add on new users and locations.

Better utilization of resources

Because it’s not hosted on your company’s computer, there is no need for staff to monitor, maintain and support the system. By enabling your IT staff to work on other projects, you can improve the value of your business.

To summarize:

Cloud ERP is a software that doesn’t require you to install it on your own server. Cloud solutions are hosted by the vendor and accessed by you over a cloud-based platform using internet browser. This makes it easier and faster for the business owners to get started with the software usage and take their business to the next level.
